

GRACE Energy Initiative promotes renewable energy, distributed generation, conservation and efficiency programs and the reforms necessary for effective solutions to our energy crisis. To accomplish real energy independence for the United States we advocate freedom from nuclear and fossil fuels and healthy, responsible, community based solutions to energy demand.
Peter Bradford has formerly served as a Comissioner to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Chair to the New York State Public Service Commission and Maine Public Utilities Commission. Currently, he advises and teaches on utility regulation, restructuring, nuclear power and energy policy in the U.S. and abroad. He has been a visiting lecturer in energy policy and environmental protection at Yale University and has taught utility law at the Vermont Law School. He is teaching a course on Nuclear Power and Public Policy at Vermont Law School in June, 2006 and is currently serving on a National Academy of Sciences panel evaluating the alternatives to continued operation of the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plants in New York. He is also affiliated with the Regulatory Assistance Project, which provides assistance to state and federal energy regulatory commissions regarding economic regulatory policy and environmental protection. He is vice-chair of the Board of the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Scott M. Cullen is an environmental attorney for the GrassRoots Action Center for the Environment (GRACE) where he primarily works on legal and policy issues related to nuclear power and waste. Prior to GRACE, acting as the Executive Director and Counsel to the Standing for Truth About Radiation Foundation, Scott guided an effort that led to the closing of two nuclear reactors at Brookhaven National Lab. He has also lead efforts to promote and encourage the substitution of renewable energy for nuclear power by assisting in the design and implementation of programs by local, state, and federal governments to deploy solar and wind technologies. Furthermore, Scott coordinated the first-ever feasibility study of offshore wind power. He is co-author of “Licensed to Kill,” a comprehensive expose on the harmful impacts of nuclear reactors on the marine eco-system.
David SchlissellDavid A. Schlissel is a Senior Consultant at Synapse Energy Economics. Since 1973, he has served as a consultant, expert witness, and attorney on complex management, engineering, and economic issues, primarily in the fields of energy and the environment. Prior to joining Synapse, Mr. Schlissel was the president of Schlissel Technical Consulting, Inc.
Mr. Schlissel has been retained by regulatory commissions, consumer advocates, publicly-owned utilities, non-utility generators, governmental agencies, and private organizations in 28 states to prepare expert analyses on issues related to electric, natural gas, and telephone utilities. He has presented testimony in more than 80 cases before regulatory boards and commissions in 25 states, two federal regulatory agencies, and in state and federal court proceedings.
Robert AlvarezRobert Alvarez is a Senior Scholar at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C., where he is currently focused on nuclear disarmament, environmental and energy policies. Between 1993 and 1999, Mr. Alvarez served as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Assistant Secretary for National Security and the Environment. While at DOE coordinated the effort to enact nuclear worker compensation legislation. In 1994 and 1995, Bob led teams in North Korea to establish control of nuclear weapons materials. He coordinated nuclear material strategic planning for the department and established the department’s first asset management program.
